EVA BUURMAN / NETHERLANDS
EVA BUURMAN IS 24 YEARS OLD AND THE NEWEST
ADDITION TO THIS YEAR’S BOELS-DOLMANS SQUAD. THIS
TALENTED ALL-ROUND RIDER HAS SIGNED A TWO-YEAR
CONTRACT WITH THE TEAM. BUURMAN IS A FOURTH
YEAR PROFESSIONAL WHO HAS FOUND TIME TO OBTAIN A
DEGREE IN HEALTH SCIENCE WHILE ACTIVELY PURSUING
A CAREER IN PROFESSIONAL CYCLING. BUURMAN FEELS
THAT HER PERFORMANCE LAST SEASON - WITH A TOP
10 RANKING IN THE WOMEN’S TOUR AND LADIES TOUR
OF NORWAY - CONFIRMS HER ABILITIES AND POTENTIAL. “IT’S
GOOD TO SEE THAT I CAN COMPETE AT WORLD TOUR LEVEL.”
She indicates that she can handle most courses but prefers races
that include rolling terrain and steep climbs. “The Ardennes
Classics and the Amstel Gold Race suit my physique and talent.
That was one of the reasons why I was approached by the team.
I want to prove my added value for the team this year. Quite simply
because it is the best team in the world, with great team spirit
a close-knit team where the teammates all support each other.
Being offered the opportunity to develop within this team is the
chance of a lifetime which I intend to grasp with both hands.”
As a rider, Buurman has grown in stature each year and wants to
make significant progress this year. This will be the first time that
she will work seriously with a trainer within the team. “I am really
looking forward to it, formulating goals together and drawing up
training schedules. This will definitely help me reach peak fitness at
the start of the new season.” In addition, she is looking forward to
training and racing together with her ‘new’ teammates. “With riders
and support staff like these, you can only improve and I can’t wait to
stand at the start in Boels-Dolmans ‘colours’.”
"WITH RIDERS LIKE THESE
AROUND YOU, YOU CAN
ONLY IMPROVE"
She is extremely sober and realistic about her goals for 2019 and the
role that she will play within the team. “I would like to help where
I can, grasp all the opportunities that come my way and ensure that
the team gets a good result. During the first year, I mainly see myself
supporting my teammates. Fulfilling this role can only make me
stronger and help prepare me for achieving good personal results in
the future. I want to give 110% for my teammates because I know that
each and every one of them is capable of winning at the finish line.”
