JOLIEN D’HOORE / BELGIUM
WORLD-CLASS FLEMISH SPRINTER JOLIEN D’HOORE IS NO SLOUCH. IN HER PRIME AT 28 YEARS OLD, D’HOORE IS THE
FIRST BELGIAN RIDER TO COMPETE UNDER THE FLAG OF THE BOELS-DOLMANS TEAM. THIS FOURTH YEAR PROFESSIONAL
WILL START IN TRACK CYCLING RACES EARLY ON IN THE SEASON, LIKE AMALIE AND AMY. JOLIEN STARTED CYCLING
COMPETITIVELY WHEN SHE WAS ONLY 12 YEARS OLD. REMARKABLY, HER FIRST APPEARANCE WAS IN A PRESTIGIOUS
OMNIUM; A MULTI-RACE TRACK CYCLING EVENT. SHE DEVELOPED HER LOVE OF TRACK CYCLING AND PURE SPEED AT
AN EARLY AGE. SHE HAS SUCCESSFULLY COMBINED TRACK CYCLING WITH STRONG PERFORMANCES IN ROAD CYCLING
RACES IN THE SPRING FOR SEVERAL YEARS. WITHIN THE BOELS-DOLMANS SQUAD, SHE WILL BE GIVEN EVERY OPPORTUNITY
TO FOCUS COMPLETELY ON THE COMBINATION OF TRACK CYCLING AND ROAD RACING.
"I AM TRULY HONOURED TO RIDE FOR THIS TEAM
AND LOOK FORWARD TO CONTRIBUTING
TO ITS FURTHER SUCCESS"
“I use the pure speed I have on the track to my advantage on
the road. This combination has helped me reach peak physical
condition for the road racing season for years. Without the
track cycling season, which starts in December and ends in
January, I would have problems performing well in the spring.
Because I will be competing in the Madison in the UCI Track
Cycling World Championships in Poland, the first and most
important event for which I have to peak during the season,
I will not be able to compete in the Omloop het Nieuwsblad race
in front of my home crowd. But I hope to be there to support the
team in the Tour of Flanders.”
D’hoore, who has twenty-eight professional victories to
her name, has high expectations of the new season with
Boels-Dolmans.
“This team has set the standard for everybody else in women’s
cycling for years. You have to respect what the team and staff
have achieved. I am truly honoured to ride for this team and
look forward to contributing to its further success.”
Jolien D’hoore has signed a two-year contract with the team.
In addition to the Track Cycling World Cup races as part of her
preparation for the Madison event during the 2020 Olympic
Games in Tokyo, this leading sprinter will initially focus on the
spring races.
She is at her best in all-out sprints and flat stages. “I have
been hired to win as many sprints as possible. With the help
of the team and the support staff, I will do everything possible
to deliver. I am confident that we will be successful and look
forward to the new season.”
